From Survival to Freedom: How Bitcoin and Web3 Gaming Changed My Life Foreve
I never thought my life would change because of Bitcoin. I didn’t come from a wealthy family or have any background in tech or finance. In fact, just a few years ago, I was working two jobs in Brazil just to keep up with rent and bills. I was exhausted, constantly stressed, and honestly, I didn’t see much of a future for myself. Everything changed when I stumbled into the world of crypto, almost by accident.
It started during the pandemic. Like many people, I had more time on my hands and less money in my pocket. A friend sent me a link to an article about Bitcoin, and I decided to look into it. I had heard of it before but always thought it was just a bubble or some scam. But as I read more, I started to understand the philosophy behind it—decentralization, freedom from traditional banks, and the ability to truly own your money.
I didn’t have much to invest, but I scraped together what I could—just a few hundred reais. I bought my first fraction of Bitcoin in early 2021. Watching it slowly grow in value gave me a kind of hope I hadn’t felt in years. It felt like, for once, I wasn’t just surviving—I was building something.
At the same time, I discovered Web3 gaming. The idea that I could actually earn crypto by playing games seemed almost too good to be true. I started small with games like Axie Infinity, and later moved into newer platforms that were emerging fast. It wasn’t always easy. The market was (and still is) full of scams and short-lived projects. I got burned a few times, but I learned. I did my own research, joined Telegram groups, read whitepapers, and slowly became part of a growing global community of people just like me—trying to build a better life through blockchain.
One of the biggest turning points for me was when I managed to earn enough from Web3 games to pay off my debts. That felt like freedom. Soon after, I began converting small profits into Bitcoin, treating it like a savings account. My strategy wasn’t fancy—I held long-term, only withdrew when absolutely necessary, and kept learning every day.
In 2023, I joined a play-to-earn gaming guild and began helping other newcomers understand how to stay safe and succeed in the space. That’s when I realized it wasn’t just about money—it was about community, knowledge, and opportunity. I wasn’t just a gamer anymore—I was an investor, a mentor, and someone with a future I could be proud of.
Now, in 2025, I’ve moved into a better apartment. I help support my family. I’m learning coding and blockchain development, hoping to eventually contribute to building these ecosystems myself. All this happened because I dared to take a risk on something most people laughed at.
I know the crypto space can be wild, and yes, it’s full of uncertainty. But for me, it gave me a second chance. Bitcoin wasn’t just digital money—it was my bridge out of struggle. And Web3 games? They were the tools that helped me cross that bridge.
This journey wasn’t perfect. I made mistakes. I lost money sometimes. But I gained freedom, confidence, and a community. And that’s worth everything.
If you’re reading this and feeling stuck, just know this: sometimes, all it takes is one small decision to change everything.
